Just Give Me Roses, composed by Dominique Preyssas for La Perla in 2021, is a spiced rose worn by anyone. Spicy and floral are both used by everyone who describes it; about half also call it woody, and a quarter find it musky, herbal or ambery.
Black pepper, pepper and pink pepper give the opening a dry, warming bite, and saffron adds a leathery, slightly metallic heat. The heart is rose in several forms: Turkish, Bulgarian and Damask, which together give a full, jammy, slightly honeyed flower. Tobacco brings a dry, hay-like sweetness, and cedar and Virginia cedar a pencil-sharp woodiness. Vanilla, amber and musk settle the base into a soft, lasting warmth.
Wearers have not yet reported on longevity or projection. By character this is an autumn and winter scent, suited to evenings and cooler days, and to anyone who likes rose with pepper and smoke rather than fruit. It is sold in a large bottle.
