Z Zegna from Ermenegildo Zegna, created by Antoine Lie, Olivier Gillotin and Pierre Negrin in 2005, is a spicy, woody masculine with a refined iris heart. Spice and wood lead together, with green, floral, aromatic and citrus facets in support.

It opens with Sicilian bergamot for a clean, bright citrus note and rosemary for a herbal, aromatic freshness. The heart is where it becomes distinctive: iris gives a cool, powdery elegance, white pepper a dry, airy spice and nutmeg a gentle warmth. The base is smooth and classic, with musk adding a soft skin feel, oakmoss an earthy, mossy depth, cashmere wood a velvety woodiness and patchouli a darker, earthy note.

Its balance of fresh herbs, powdery iris and soft woods makes it well suited to the office and smart occasions. It will appeal to someone who wants a polished, understated masculine with a little elegance.
