La Diva Mon Amour, a 2017 women's fragrance from the French house Emanuel Ungaro, is sweet and floral in equal measure: everyone who describes it uses both words, and a third also find it musky, ambery and citrusy.
Mandarin orange, raspberry and black currant give a juicy, tart opening. The heart is rose, including Bulgarian rose, with freesia adding a light, peppery freshness. Then the sweetness arrives: liquorice brings a dark aniseed note, tonka bean a nutty warmth, and Peru balsam a thick, vanilla-like resinous depth, with musk rounding the finish so it sits softly on the skin.
This is an evening and cool-weather scent, best in autumn and winter. It should appeal to people who like rose paired with gourmand notes and want something warmer and more distinctive than a simple fruity floral.
