Contradiction is a floral fragrance for men from Calvin Klein, released in 1999 and composed by Carlos Benaïm, Pierre Wargnye, Ann Gottlieb and Daniela Andrier. Floral is the overwhelming impression; a minority also find it sweet, woody, musky or fresh.
It opens with a bouquet: rose, orchid, peony, lily and lily of the valley, with false jasmine among them, fresh and slightly green. The heart adds jasmine and lilac, with blackberry bringing a touch of fruit and eucalyptus a cool, camphor-like lift. Musk, tonka bean and sandalwood form a soft, slightly sweet base.
Two-thirds of wearers report moderate longevity and about a quarter find it weak; projection is mostly moderate, often intimate. Spring leads the season votes, with summer second, and it is worn mainly by day. This is a light, flowery daytime scent for a man comfortable with florals, best in mild weather.
