Chrome Legend, Azzaro's 2007 release for men by Olivier Pescheux and Christophe Raynaud, is a green, sweet, woody scent rather than the aquatic its name might suggest. Everyone who describes it uses those three words together, and about half add musky, ambery and citrusy.
The notes are given as one group. Green apple and bitter orange supply the opening brightness, crisp and slightly tart. Tea adds a cool, dry, faintly bitter freshness that runs through the middle. Underneath, cedar and vetiver give a clean, dry wood with a touch of earth, oakmoss a damp, green depth, and tonka bean, amber and musk a soft, sweet warmth that explains the gourmand votes.
Most wearers find it long lasting, and the sillage divides almost evenly between moderate and strong, so it is noticeable for a daytime fragrance. Summer and spring take most seasonal votes and it is worn mainly by day. It suits warm weather and work, for someone who wants a fresh scent with more sweetness and body than a typical citrus.
