Baie Rose

Baie Rose from the French house Fragrance Du Bois, released in 2016, is a bright floral-citrus scent with a woody base and a peppery edge. Floral and citrus impressions are shared by everyone who describes it; around two thirds also call it woody, and a minority notice spicy, gourmand or musky sides.

Grapefruit, bergamot and lemon give it a sparkling, slightly bitter opening, with pink pepper adding a rosy warmth that explains the name. Jasmine and ylang-ylang form the floral core, creamy and a little heady, while iris adds a cool, powdery softness. Vetiver and patchouli bring an earthy, rooty dryness to the base, and vanilla with musk round it off so the finish feels smooth rather than stark.

Baie Rose is worn by anyone. The citrus top and powdery-woody base make it a natural choice for daytime wear in spring and summer, and it is restrained enough for an office or a lunch rather than a loud night out.
