Laylati

Laylati by the Italian house Xerjoff, released in 2019 and composed by Chris Maurice, is a woody tobacco fragrance. Woody is the accord every wearer names; about half also find it gourmand, musky and aromatic. The note list is short, which makes the character easy to read.

Green notes give the opening a fresh, leafy edge, a brief moment of coolness before the warmer materials arrive. Tobacco is the centre of the composition, dry and slightly sweet, like cured leaf rather than smoke. Vanilla sits beside it, adding a soft, creamy sweetness that rounds off the tobacco's edges. The base of patchouli, cedar and musk is dry and earthy, the cedar bringing a clean pencil-wood line and the musk a smooth, skin-close finish.
