Galaad, from the French house Lubin, is a dark woody fragrance composed by Delphine Thierry and released in 2012. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, about half find it aromatic, and a minority mention spicy, gourmand and resinous shades.
Rosemary and cardamom open it with a green, herbal brightness and a touch of warm spice. Cypress adds a resinous, coniferous freshness that leads into the heart, where Atlas cedar and agarwood (oud) set a dry, slightly smoky tone. Tobacco and honey soften that with a sweet, hay-like richness, while copahu balm and myrrh bring a balsamic, faintly medicinal depth, and cypriol adds an earthy, smoky edge beneath.
This is a composition for cooler months and evenings, with enough smoke and resin to feel serious. Worn by anyone, it suits people who enjoy oud and tobacco done in a European, herbal-tinged manner rather than the sweeter Middle Eastern style.
