Oud Forever

Oud Forever from Louis Cardin is a woody amber for men, released in 2018. Everyone who has described it calls it woody and ambery, and about half also find it sweet and aromatic.

It opens with green notes and cannabis, a sharp, herbal, slightly resinous start that is far from the usual citrus. The heart moves into coffee, tobacco, resin and woody notes: coffee gives a dark, roasted bitterness, tobacco a dry, hay-like warmth, and resin a sticky sweetness that ties them together. The base of incense and agarwood is smoky and dark, with the oud adding depth and the incense a cool, dry finish.

No wear reports have been collected, so longevity and sillage are unknown. A coffee, tobacco and oud composition of this kind is best suited to cold weather and the evening, and would appeal to a man who likes dark, smoky, slightly bitter scents and is not looking for freshness. It is sold in an 80 ml bottle.
