The Wild Man

The Wild Man, composed by Julie Pluchet for the Italian house Morris in 2018, is a fruity, floral masculine with a resinous base, and it covers a lot of ground. Everyone who describes it calls it sweet, floral and citrus, and most add spicy, woody and resinous.

The opening is a fruit salad: Calabrian bergamot and grapefruit for a sharp citrus, pineapple and melon for a sweet, juicy tropical note, and rhubarb for a tart, green crunch. Black pepper adds a dry heat. The heart is floral in a masculine way: lavender for the barbershop freshness, geranium rosy and herbal, with jasmine and magnolia adding a creamier softness. The base is warm and smoky: frankincense for dry incense, labdanum for a leathery amber, tonka bean for sweetness, and vetiver and patchouli for dry, earthy wood.

Marketed for men, it suits autumn and spring and evening wear, and a person who likes sweet, fruity masculines with a serious incense-and-amber finish.
