Rouge Hermès, created in 2000 by Akiko Kamei, is a bold floral with a warm woody backbone. Flowers lead, with wood strongly present and lighter touches of spice, sweetness and amber.

It opens rich rather than fresh: rose gives a deep, velvety floral note, iris a cool powdery softness, and ylang-ylang a creamy, exotic sweetness. In the heart, amber and vanilla warm things up, while cedar and sandalwood add dry and creamy wood. The finish is unusual, with spices adding a warm glow and myrtle a slightly herbal, green-aromatic edge.

This is a powerful fragrance by its wearers' accounts: longevity is described as long lasting or eternal, and the trail as strong or even enormous. It is voted for autumn and winter and leans towards night. A little goes a long way, so it suits evenings and occasions where a confident, sophisticated floral is welcome.
