The opening is the strange part: vinyl and ink give a cool, synthetic, slightly chemical sharpness, black pepper a dry bite and rum a warm, sugary, boozy counterpoint. The heart softens it, with peony bringing a fresh, rosy floral, apricot a soft, velvety fruit, ebony wood a dark, dense woodiness and elemi a lemony, peppery resin. The base is a single note, frankincense, whose smoky, church-like resin is where the fragrance rests for most of its life.
