Eau du Soir from Sisley, released in 1990 and composed by Hubert d'Ornano, Isabelle d'Ornano and Jeannine Mongin, is a dense floral chypre. People describe it as floral above all, with amber and citrus facets for a third and spicy, green and woody sides for a minority.
It opens briefly with mandarin and grapefruit. The heart is crowded and rich: rose, jasmine, iris and lily of the valley with carnation and syringa, given bite by pepper and juniper, and anchored by oakmoss, patchouli and French labdanum, so the flowers feel mossy and resinous rather than fresh. The base is amber and musk, warm and long.
About half of wearers report long-lasting performance and a third find it lasts all day, while sillage is split evenly between strong and moderate. It is voted for autumn and winter and slightly more for night, which suits evenings and someone who likes a formal, old-school floral.
Eau du Soir — unisex fragrance by Sisley (released 1990). Top notes: Grapefruit, Mandarin Orange. Heart notes: oak moss, Juniper, Patchouli, Pepper, Carnation, Iris, Rose, Syringa, French labdanum, Lily-of-the-Valley, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang. Base notes: Musk, Amber. — Parfica open fragrance database
