Brutus is Orto Parisi's take on a fougère, released in 2014 and composed by Alessandro Gualtieri. People describe it as woody, floral and citrus in equal measure, with green, musky and aromatic facets noted by about half, which points to a classic structure rather than anything experimental.
It opens with bergamot and mandarin, bright and clean. The heart is lavender with rose and geranium, the herbal, slightly soapy combination that defines the barbershop style. The base is where the weight comes in: labdanum and amber for warmth, patchouli and oakmoss for earth, cedar and musk to hold it close to skin.
Longevity is split between long lasting and moderate, and about half report moderate projection while a third find it strong. It is voted most for autumn, then spring, and is worn equally by day and night. It is worn by anyone, and suits those who like a traditional aromatic scent given a heavier, more resinous finish.
