Baraonda from the Dutch house Nasomatto is a boozy musk, composed by Alessandro Gualtieri and released in 2016 for anyone to wear. Everyone who describes it calls it musky, and about half also find it woody, floral and ambery.
The notes are listed without stages. Whiskey sets the character: a warm, slightly sweet, oaky booziness that is the first thing most people recognise. Rose adds a soft floral sweetness that blends into the whisky rather than standing apart from it. Ambrette, a plant-derived musk, gives a smooth, slightly fruity, skin-like warmth, reinforced by further musk and by Ambroxan, which adds a dry, mineral, long-lasting amber glow. Woody notes round out the base and give the whisky something like its barrel.
Most wearers find it long lasting, and most describe its projection as strong. It is voted mainly for winter and autumn, and overwhelmingly for night, which makes it a cold-weather evening scent for someone who likes the idea of whisky and rose kept warm and musky rather than sharp.
