Staccato

Staccato is a spicy, honeyed scent from the British house Miller Harris, released in 2024, composed by Karine Vinchon Spehner and worn by anyone. Spicy is how everyone describes it, about half also find it floral, and a quarter notice sweetness, wood, resin or amber, which fits a warm, layered composition with a smoky edge.

Cardamom and ginger open it, the cardamom cool and green, the ginger warm and zesty, with cinnamon and saffron adding a sweet heat and a dry, leathery spice right behind them. The heart is rose and jasmine, the rose dark and slightly jammy, the jasmine warm and creamy, and honey runs through them with a sticky, floral, faintly waxy sweetness. The base is smoky and rich: tobacco brings a dry, honeyed leaf, cade oil a tarry, campfire smoke, leather a supple richness, and cedar, benzoin and ambergris a dry wood, a soft resin and a warm, salty finish.

It is a cold-weather, evening scent, worn by anyone who likes spice and honey with smoke and leather beneath them.
