Roses Greedy by the French house Mancera, composed by Pierre Montale in 2012, is a gourmand first and a floral second, with spicy, musky, amber and citrus touches noticed by a minority. The name is accurate: it is a rose dipped in sugar, worn by anyone with a sweet tooth.

The opening is fruity and tropical, with peach, mandarin orange and blackcurrant giving juice and tartness, coconut a creamy sweetness and pink pepper a faint rosy spice. The heart is rose and jasmine with other flowers, bright rather than dark. The base is where the greed comes in: sugar and vanilla pile on the sweetness, benzoin adds a resinous, slightly vanillic warmth, amber rounds it and white musk softens the finish.

More wearers report it as long lasting than moderate, and people are split almost evenly between strong and moderate sillage, so it tends to be noticed. It is voted mainly for spring and summer and worn mostly in the daytime, which suits warm, bright days rather than winter evenings.
