Mogul from Louis Cardin is a woody scent for men, released in 2018. Everyone who has described it calls it woody, and a minority also find it floral and resinous.
The structure is simple. It opens on labdanum alone, a dark, sticky resin with a leathery, almost ambery sweetness. The heart is patchouli, earthy and slightly camphorous. The base brings together agarwood, sandalwood and rose: agarwood for a dry, dark intensity, sandalwood for creamy smoothness, and rose for a touch of floral warmth that keeps the woods from feeling stark. The whole thing stays within a classic oud-and-rose tradition without sweetness or citrus.
Longevity and sillage have not yet been reported. A resinous oud and rose composition of this kind is best suited to cold weather and evening wear, and would fit a man who already enjoys oud rather than someone trying it for the first time. It is sold in a 100 ml bottle.
