Just Give Me Roses, composed by Dominique Preyssas for La Perla in 2021, is a spiced rose worn by anyone. Spicy and floral are both used by everyone who describes it; about half also call it woody, and a quarter find it musky, herbal or ambery.
Black pepper, pepper and pink pepper give the opening a dry, warming bite, and saffron adds a leathery, slightly metallic heat. The heart is rose in several forms: Turkish, Bulgarian and Damask, which together give a full, jammy, slightly honeyed flower. Tobacco brings a dry, hay-like sweetness, and cedar and Virginia cedar a pencil-sharp woodiness. Vanilla, amber and musk settle the base into a soft, lasting warmth.
