Ysatis, released by Givenchy in 1984 and composed by Dominique Ropion, is a grand floral in the style of its decade. Everyone describes it as floral, half as woody, and smaller groups notice gourmand, citrus, green and fresh sides.
The opening is a sparkling mix of aldehydes, bergamot, mandarin orange and citruses with ylang-ylang, orange blossom, coconut, galbanum and Brazilian rosewood, bright and slightly green. The heart is a heavy bouquet of tuberose, jasmine, rose, narcissus, carnation and iris, with a dash of rum. The base is a rich chypre of oakmoss, patchouli, sandalwood and vetiver warmed by honey, vanilla, amber, cloves, civet and laurels.
About half of wearers report long lasting performance and a third call it eternal; the trail is strong for half. It is voted for winter and autumn and more for night than day, which places it as a formal evening floral for cold weather.
