L'Interdit Absolu is the darkest, most grown-up member of Givenchy's L'Interdit family, released in 2024 and created by Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Fanny Bal. It is a white floral first and foremost, but about half of wearers also call it woody and aromatic, and a minority notice spice.

The opening is unusual for a feminine floral: lavender and Guatemalan cardamom bring an aromatic, slightly herbal coolness, with neroli adding a bitter orange brightness. The heart is dense and heady, built on jasmine sambac, orange blossom and Indian tuberose, the creamy, almost intoxicating flowers the line is known for. The base turns boozy and smoky, with rum, tobacco and patchouli over the dry earthiness of Haitian vetiver.

Most people report long-lasting wear, and sillage sits between moderate and strong. It is voted mainly for winter and autumn and overwhelmingly for night, so it suits evenings, dinners and cold weather far better than a summer afternoon.
