Molecule 02 from Escentric Molecules, composed by Geza Schoen in 2008, is a single-material fragrance built on Ambroxan and worn by anyone. Wearers describe it with one word, amber, which is less a reference to sweet resin than to the dry, warm radiance of the material itself.

Ambroxan on its own is mineral and slightly salty, with a smooth, woody-musky warmth that sits close to the skin and reads as a clean, sun-warmed glow rather than a conventional perfume. There is no opening, heart or base to speak of; it is one note from beginning to end, and like the house's other single molecules it tends to slip in and out of the wearer's own awareness.

A third of wearers find the longevity moderate and a quarter call it long lasting. Sillage is intimate for nearly half. It is voted for spring and summer and more for daytime, so it suits someone who wants a quiet, skin-like warmth rather than a statement.
