Hero Eau de Parfum, Burberry's 2022 follow-up composed by Aurélien Guichard, keeps the cedar core of the original but wraps it in resin and smoke. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, about half add resinous, and a quarter mention amber.
It opens with frankincense and pine needles, so instead of citrus there is a dry, slightly smoky resin alongside a cool, green forest sharpness. The heart deepens the same idea with more incense and benzoin, the latter adding a balsamic, faintly vanilla-like sweetness that softens the smoke. The base returns to the three cedars, Virginia, Himalayan and Atlas, which give a dry, pencil-wood finish, now warmer and darker than in the eau de toilette.
Wearers are split between long lasting and moderate, and most report a moderate sillage with a fifth calling it strong. It is voted for winter and autumn and leans towards night, which places it as the colder-weather, evening version of Hero, for someone who likes woods with incense rather than freshness.
