Rubin Fumée from LPDO is an amber fragrance with smoke in it, as the name suggests. Everyone who describes it calls it amber, and about half add each of spicy, sweet, woody, musky and floral, which marks it as a rounded, many-sided composition rather than a single idea.
Nutmeg gives a warm, slightly sweet spice at the start, and davana adds a fruity, boozy, apricot-like note that is one of the more distinctive touches here. Floral and aromatic notes keep the middle from getting too heavy. Incense brings the smoke, dry and resinous, and a gourmand accord with tonka bean lays a sweet, slightly caramelised warmth beneath it. Patchouli adds earth, and ambergris and musk give the finish a salty, soft, skin-like glow.
It is worn by anyone. The smoky-sweet amber character points to cold weather and evening wear, and suits a wearer who likes incense but wants it softened with warmth and a little sweetness.
