Mécanique Intuitive is a rich, unusual blend of tea, leather and boozy sweetness, equal parts gourmand, green and leathery. Les EAUX Primordiales released it in 2016, composed by Arnaud Poulain, and it is worn by anyone.
Black tea sets the scene, tannic and slightly smoky, with osmanthus adding its apricot-like, leathery floral tone alongside. Rum brings a dark, warming sweetness that makes the tea feel like something served in a bar rather than a drawing room. The base is where the leather comes forward: castoreum gives a deep, animalic warmth, tobacco a dry, honeyed richness, and tonka bean and vanilla smooth it all into a soft, sweet finish.
This is a cold-weather, evening scent by temperament, suited to autumn and winter and to anyone who enjoys tea-and-leather compositions with an edge of darkness and sweetness.
