No 89 from the British house Floris, released in 1951, is a floral woody fragrance for men in the classic cologne tradition. Flowers lead, three-quarters of wearers also find it woody, and about half note green and citrus facets.

The opening is a full citrus and herb chord: orange, bergamot, neroli and petitgrain, with lavender and nutmeg for aromatic warmth. The heart is rose, geranium and ylang-ylang, a soft, old-fashioned floral. The base of sandalwood, vetiver, oakmoss, musk and Virginia cedar is dry, mossy and gentlemanly, with the oakmoss giving it a forest-floor depth.

Most wearers report moderate longevity, with about a quarter finding it long lasting; projection is moderate or intimate. Spring leads the season votes, summer follows, and it is worn mainly by day. It suits a man who likes traditional, well-mannered scents for daytime wear in mild weather.
