Unusually, cedar sits in the opening alongside Italian violet and wildflowers, so the first impression is a dry, woody violet rather than a sweet one, cool and a little shadowy. The heart deepens with iris, powdery and rooty, musk for softness and cloves, which add a warm, slightly medicinal spice. The base is black currant and Bulgarian rose, so the fragrance ends on a tart, dark fruit note and a full, classic rose rather than on the usual woods.
