New Haarlem is Bond No 9's coffee scent, composed by Maurice Roucel in 2003 and worn by anyone. It is sweet and woody above all, with a minority of wearers also finding it green, aromatic, ambery or citrusy.

Lavender, green leaves and bergamot give the opening a brief herbal freshness. The heart is the point of the fragrance: a roasted coffee note paired with cedar, so it smells like a cafe counter with dry wood behind it. The base turns the coffee into something closer to dessert, with vanilla and tonka bean adding sweetness, amber warmth and patchouli an earthy depth that keeps it grounded.

Most wearers find it long lasting, and more than half report strong sillage, so this is not a discreet scent. It is voted mainly for winter and autumn and a little more for evenings. It suits anyone who enjoys sweet, coffee-led gourmands and wants one that announces itself.
