Nagud by Bois 1920, released in 2015, is woody and floral in equal measure, with a clear streak of citrus running through it and a quieter spicy, resinous warmth beneath.

The opening pairs lemon and bergamot with saffron, so the first minutes feel bright and zesty with a faintly leathery, honeyed spice. The heart turns to Turkish rose and geranium, a slightly green, peppery rose, softened by creamy ylang-ylang and the balsamic shade of myrrh. As it dries down, cedar, sandalwood and patchouli build a dry, earthy wooden frame, while incense adds a wisp of smoke and vanilla rounds the edges with gentle sweetness.

It is worn by anyone, and its mix of rose, resin and woods suggests cooler days and evenings more than high summer heat. Those who enjoy rose-and-incense compositions with a citrus lift will find it a balanced, unhurried example from the Italian house.
