It opens on amber and a blend of spicy notes, so the start is warm and dry from the first moment rather than fresh. The heart is where the structure appears: saffron adds a dry, leathery, slightly metallic spice, patchouli an earthy, damp depth, a blend of woody notes a dry frame, and tonka bean a soft, almond-and-hay sweetness that is where the gourmand impression comes from. The base is oakmoss, ambergris and musk, the oakmoss a damp, bitter, forest-floor green, the ambergris a warm, salty, slightly animalic glow, and the musk a soft, skin-like finish.
It is a cold-weather, evening scent, worn by anyone who likes spice and amber with moss and musk beneath them.
