Nero 70 from Xerjoff, composed by Chris Maurice in 2020, is a bright citrus fragrance with a soft vanilla base. Everyone who describes it calls it citrus, about half also find it gourmand, and a minority mention musk, flowers, aromatic notes and amber.
The opening is a wide spread of Italian citrus: Sicilian citruses, Calabrian bergamot and bergamot give a sparkling, juicy and slightly bitter brightness. Lavender adds a clean, calm herbal note, and neroli a fresh, green orange-blossom lift. The base is warm and smooth: vanilla, including Bourbon vanilla, brings a creamy, rich sweetness, amber a golden glow and musk a soft, skin-close finish, so the citrus is gradually wrapped in warmth.
Unisex in spirit, it suits people who like citrus fragrances that dry down softly rather than disappearing. The profile works for spring and summer days, as well as cooler evenings when the vanilla comes forward. Those who enjoy bergamot and vanilla compositions with a lavender and neroli touch should find it elegant and easy to wear.
