Bergamot gives the opening a brief citrus brightness before the spices arrive: cloves bring a warm, slightly medicinal bite and saffron a dry, leathery heat. Cocoa and cacao pod are the heart, dark, dusty and bitter-sweet, with jasmine adding a touch of floral warmth beneath them.
