Zizonia by Penhaligon's, composed by Christian Provenzano and released in 2010, is a spicy, woody fragrance: spice leads, most people also notice woods, and a minority pick up citrus, florals, herbs and amber.

Bergamot and orange give a bright start, quickly warmed by cardamom, coriander and ginger, which add aromatic, slightly peppery spice. Lavender and geranium bring a clean, herbal floral note in the heart, while cumin gives a dry, slightly skin-like warmth. In the base, cedar, vetiver, sandalwood and patchouli settle into a dry, earthy and gently smoky woodiness.

It has a refined, slightly gentlemanly character that suits autumn and winter, the office and evenings. It suits someone who likes spiced woods in the traditional British style and wants something warm and aromatic without much sweetness.
