Irida - Cyclades

Irida - Cyclades is a woody floral from the French house Fiilit, released in 2010 and inspired by the Greek islands. Woody is the word everyone uses for it; three quarters also call it floral, and a quarter find it green, resinous, ambery or citrusy.

Mastic, the resin of the lentisk tree, gives the opening a distinctive fresh, pine-like, slightly bitter greenness, and it sits alongside bergamot, petitgrain and neroli for a classic Mediterranean citrus-and-leaf brightness. The heart is soft: rose and violet add a gentle, slightly powdery floral sweetness. The base is warm and dry, with cashmere wood and sandalwood bringing smooth woodiness, papyrus a drier, dustier tone, myrrh a bitter resinous depth, and tonka bean and amber a soft, lasting warmth.

It is worn by anyone. The fresh resinous opening suits warm days, while the woody base carries it into cooler evenings, so it works across seasons for someone who likes Mediterranean scents with a soft floral touch.
