White Magnolia

White Magnolia is a bright, woody floral from the Italian house Etro, released in 2021, composed by Olivier Cresp and worn by anyone. Woody and floral are the two words everyone uses for it, most also find it citrusy, and a third notice musk or amber, which fits a clean, luminous scent with a dry base.

Bergamot and other citrus notes open it with a fresh, slightly bitter sparkle. Magnolia is the heart and the point of the scent, a creamy, lemony flower that sits somewhere between citrus and white petal, and it is joined by hellebore, a less familiar flower that reads as green, faintly bitter and slightly earthy, keeping the magnolia from becoming too sweet. The base is dry and pale: cedar and white woods give a clean, pencil-like structure, and musk and amber add a soft, warm, skin-like finish that lasts after the flower fades.

It is a daytime scent for spring and summer, worn by anyone who likes florals bright and clean with woods rather than sugar beneath them.
