The opening pairs black pepper, warm and dry, with pink pepper, which is brighter and slightly rosy. In the heart, rose adds a soft floral contour that keeps the pepper from feeling harsh. The base is where the depth lies: labdanum brings a dark, sticky amber richness, Atlas cedar gives a dry pencil-shaving woodiness and balsam fir adds a resinous, forest-like freshness.
