Realist

Realist is a fresh, green woody citrus from the British house Contradictions in ILK, released in 2020. Green, woody and citrus impressions are shared by everyone who describes it; about two thirds also find it fresh and amber-like, and a minority notice a spicy side.

Yuzu, lemon and bergamot give a sharp, sparkling opening, with petitgrain adding a bitter green twist. Black tea brings a dry, tannic quality, and pepper a light warmth. A marine note runs through the middle, giving it a salty, airy feel. Hinoki wood and cedar form a clean, slightly resinous base, with vetiver adding an earthy dryness and incense a thin trail of smoke. Immortelle and amber warm the drydown so it does not feel cold.

Realist is worn by anyone. Its brightness suits daytime and warmer seasons, and the tea and woods give it enough structure for the office. It suits someone who likes clean, slightly mineral scents with a thoughtful finish.
