Roses de Chloé, created for Chloé in 2013 by Michel Almairac and Mylène Alran, is a sweet, fruity rose that sits lighter on the skin than its name might suggest. Sweetness is the first thing everyone describes, and most also find it woody, floral and citrusy; a third pick up a musky softness and, more surprisingly, a leathery edge.

The opening is bright and a little herbal: lemon and bergamot with litchi for juice and tarragon for a green, aniseed-like twist. In the heart the damask rose is joined by peach, apple and black currant, so it reads as rose jam rather than a fresh-cut flower, with magnolia adding a clean, dewy note and cedar a dry frame. The base is simple and soft: white musk, amber and gentle woods.

Most wearers report moderate longevity, and a fair number find it weak; the trail is moderate to intimate. It is voted mostly for spring and summer and firmly for daytime, which makes it an easy, unobtrusive rose for everyday wear.
