Velvet Fire is a dry, woody scent built around oud, tobacco and herbs, released by the French house The Harmonist in 2020. It is worn by anyone.

Neroli opens it with a bright, slightly bitter orange-blossom freshness, joined by clary sage and myrtle, which add a green, herbal, resinous aroma. Saffron brings a warm, leathery spice to the heart. Agarwood is the centre of the base, dry, resinous and faintly smoky, with cypress adding a cool, green woodiness, tobacco a dry, leafy warmth, and tonka bean a soft, almondy sweetness that smooths the finish.

It suits autumn and winter and evening wear. Anyone who likes oud kept dry and herbal rather than sweet or animalic should find it rewarding, and a good fit for cold, clear days.
