Thyme, rosemary and lavender give the opening a dry, herbal, Mediterranean freshness. Leather is the centre, smooth and warm rather than tarry, and birch adds a faint smoky, tar-like edge beside it. Rose and magnolia bring a soft floral touch that lightens the middle. The base is warm and slightly sweet: cedar and sandalwood for dry and creamy woods, patchouli for earthiness, labdanum for a resinous, ambery depth, and vanilla and tonka bean for a gentle sweetness that softens the leather.
