It opens with bergamot and grapefruit, a bitter-fresh citrus start, with nutmeg adding a dry, warm spice. The heart is cool and green: lavender gives a clean herbal note, cypress a resinous, coniferous sharpness, and watery notes a dewy freshness that keeps it light. The base is two vetivers, Haitian and Bourbon, which together give the smoky, earthy, slightly grassy character the Encre Noire line is known for, softened by cashmere wood and musk so it feels smoother and less inky than the original.
