Ombre Noire by Lalique, composed by Karine Dubreuil-Sereni in 2017, is a green, woody masculine with tobacco and a boozy sweetness. Everyone describes it as both green and woody; about half also find it spicy, sweet, aromatic and citrusy.
Fig leaf opens it, green and slightly milky, with bergamot adding brightness and mint a cool, clean edge. The heart is where it darkens: tobacco leaf brings a dry, honeyed, faintly smoky warmth, papyrus a dry, woody, almost smoky greenness, and cinnamon a sweet spice. The base is cognac, cedar and tonka bean, so it ends with a smooth, liqueur-like sweetness over dry wood and a creamy, almond-tinged warmth.
Most wearers report moderate longevity and a moderate trail, so it stays fairly close for a scent of this character. It is voted mainly for winter and autumn and leans towards evening. It suits someone who likes tobacco and woods but wants them with a green, fresh opening rather than pure heaviness.
