Cherry liqueur sets the tone, dark, syrupy and faintly boozy, and it is paired with coffee, whose roasted bitterness keeps the cherry from becoming cloying. Bergamot gives a brief citrus brightness at the top, while lavender and geranium add an aromatic, slightly herbal, slightly rosy freshness that cuts through the sweetness in the middle. The base is warm and smooth: tonka bean brings a vanilla-and-almond richness, sandalwood a creamy wood, and musk a soft, clean finish.
