Sweet Heaven Cherry from Gulf Orchid, released in 2024, is a cherry gourmand through and through: everyone who describes it calls it sweet, and about a third also notice wood, musk, resin and citrus.
Cherry is the centrepiece, ripe and jammy, with mandarin orange adding a brighter, juicier edge at the start. Davana, a herb with a boozy, fruity, slightly bitter character, keeps the cherry from becoming purely confectionery. The base is warm and creamy: vanilla and tonka bean supply the sweetness, sandalwood a smooth woody softness, and myrrh a faint resinous, balsamic depth that gives it a little seriousness. Musk rounds everything off.
It is worn by anyone, and its warm, dessert-like character suits autumn and winter and the evening best. If you like cherry-and-vanilla scents, this is firmly in that family, and it is one of the more accessible ways into it.
