It opens with grapefruit and bergamot sharpened by ginger and black pepper, so the citrus is fizzy and warm at the same time. The heart keeps the pepper going, adding timur and a rose that reads peppery rather than sweet, with neroli and petitgrain keeping things bright and bitter-green. The base is benzoin and labdanum, soft and resinous, over leather and akigalawood for a dry, slightly smoky finish.
