Joie de Oud from LPDO, released in 2024, is an oud dessert: everyone who describes it calls it sweet, most add woody, a majority also say spicy and musky, and a minority mention amber.

Saffron and clove open it with a warm, leathery, slightly medicinal spice. Then the sweetness arrives in force: dark chocolate, praline, sugar and vanilla together, which makes the middle rich, nutty and confectionery-like. Agarwood, or oud, sits underneath, dark and smoky, and patchouli adds an earthy, slightly chocolatey depth of its own that fits naturally with the cocoa. Sandalwood smooths the wood, powdery notes soften it, and white musk, musk and ambergris give a warm, salty, skin-like finish.

It is worn by anyone. The heavy, chocolate-and-oud character suits cold weather and evening wear, and a person who loves rich gourmands and wants an oud that is more sweet than animalic.
