Sultan The Founder, released by French Avenue in 2024, is a dark, dense woody fragrance. Everyone who describes it says woody; under half add green and musky, and a minority find it resinous or ambery.

The notes come as one list and lean heavily on the base. Oud gives a deep, resinous, slightly medicinal wood at the centre. Patchouli adds earthiness and cashmere wood and amberwood a smooth, warm, modern woodiness. Oakmoss and moss supply the green side, a damp, bitter, forest-floor quality that cuts through the warmth. Labdanum brings a sticky, ambery resin, ambrette a soft, slightly vegetal musk, and civet an animalic, musky depth that gives the whole thing an old-fashioned richness.

It is worn by anyone. Community data on longevity and sillage is not yet available. The character is firmly for cold weather, evenings and occasions where a heavy, serious scent is welcome, and for someone who likes mossy, animalic ouds rather than clean ones.
