Noa, created by Olivier Cresp for Cacharel in 1998, is a soft, milky floral with a sweet undertone. Flowers lead for everyone, most wearers also find it sweet, and a minority notice its woody, spicy, green or musky sides.
The opening is a gentle mix of peony, freesia, peach and plum, with green notes and white musk keeping it fresh and clean. The heart is a bouquet of lily of the valley, rose, jasmine and ylang-ylang over a hint of green grass, so it smells dewy rather than heady. The base is where it becomes unusual: coffee, sandalwood and a thread of incense sit under vanilla and tonka bean, giving a quiet, creamy warmth with a faintly roasted edge.
Most people report moderate longevity, and a quarter find it weak; sillage is intimate to moderate, staying close to the skin. It is voted for spring and summer and mostly for daytime, suiting women who want a soft, comforting floral for everyday wear.
