The notes are listed together. Cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg give a warm, church-spice opening, sharp and sweet at once. Angelica adds a green, slightly musky, celery-like note, and oakmoss a bitter, forest-floor dryness, which together account for the green impression. Frankincense and myrrh are the core, dry, lemony smoke and bitter, balsamic resin, deepened by labdanum for a sweet, leathery warmth. Cedar and sandalwood provide the woody frame, and ambergris a salty, skin-like finish.
Mandala is worn by anyone. By character it is an autumn and winter fragrance for evenings and quiet moments, contemplative and dense, and it suits people who like incense in the liturgical style with spice and moss rather than sweetness.
