Lost Alice, from Masque Milano in 2021, was composed by Mackenzie Reilly. It is primarily green, and about half of those who describe it also find it spicy, sweet, musky, floral or citrusy, a spread that reflects its unusual mix of tea, root vegetable and milk.

The opening pairs clary sage with black pepper and ambrette, herbal and a little sharp with a soft musky undertone. The heart is the curious part: carrot adds an earthy, slightly sweet rootiness, black tea brings a dry, tannic edge, and white rose keeps it floral without becoming pretty. The base of broom, sandalwood and milk is soft and comforting, closing the scent on a creamy, hay-like note.

Most wearers find the longevity moderate and the projection moderate to intimate, so it stays close to the skin. It is voted for autumn and spring, and overwhelmingly for daytime. Worn by anyone, it suits someone who wants a quiet, slightly strange green scent rather than a conventional fresh one.

Lost Alice — unisex fragrance by Masque Milano (released 2021). Top notes: Ambrette (Musk Mallow), Black Pepper, Bergamot, Clary Sage. Heart notes: Orris, Carrot, Black Tea, White Rose. Base notes: Milk, Sandalwood, Broom. — Parfica open fragrance database
